For a very long time now I have been seeking a fair and comprehensive statistical gauge for my OCs' power. Unsatisfied with anything I could find on the Internet, I have since decided to make one up for myself. I hope that my putting this on deviantart will be a help to anyone making Bleach OCs in the future. What follows is a brief guide as to how the system works.

                                                                                                      The Ten Categories

Melee- Melee is the SKILL which shows how gifted a character is in the use of their specific weapon of choice. This category covers Zanjutsu, Kendo, Kung Fu, or any other weapons-based martial art an OC may use.

Unarmed- Conversely, this SKILL showcases fighting power when using nothing but the body for combat. All unarmed martial arts fall under its purview, including Hakuda.

Projection- The ability to create Reiatsu-based effects such as Kido, Cero, and levitation is tied to this SKILL.

Speed- The techniques used for reaching superhuman speeds of movement, such as Hoho, Sonido, and Hirenkyaku, all go into this SKILL.

Intelligence- Intelligence represents acquired knowledge and its real-world applications. This is the first INHERENT category.

Dexterity- The mentally INHERENT facet which allows a person to perform complex physical actions with both adroitness and success. This also includes the OC's control over other faculties such as Speed and Strength.

Strength- The INHERENT power capable of being put behind physical movements.

Endurance- A person's INHERENT capacity for withstanding bodily damage and sustaining strenuous activity over long periods of time.

Agility- This INHERENT trait constitutes how fast a character's movements are, from the speed of his swing to the quickness of his block. However, this statistic also applies to the rate of perception, such as following an opponent's movements.

Energy- This is the only INHERENT category that cannot be changed, barring of course a state-altering transformation, such as Aizen's "butterfly" form. It represents the amount of Reiryoku that is naturally present in the character's body. The achievement of Shikai, Fullbring, or Resurreccion requires at least a 4 in this area; Bankai requires an 8.

          Each of these is assigned a score from 0 to 10 depending on how skillful or talented a character is in that particular area. The resulting total score determines their overall power before special variables such as zanpakuto and Fullbring are included. Here is a scale to help pinpoint where exactly your OC's abilities are in each category. Keep in mind that the nouns are used to describe the SKILL categories, whereas the adjectives only describe INHERENT categories.

0:                     Non-User/Nonexistent
1-3:                  Novice/Limited
4-5:                  Practitioner/Average
6-7:                  Adept/Ample
8-9:                  Expert/Great
10:                   Master/Massive


• Shinigami Captains and Arrancar Espadas will usually possess a total score ranging anywhere from 55 (Hitsugaya) to 65 (Shunsui).
• There are an exceptional few, such as Yamamoto (82), Aizen (78), (and possibly Ulquiorra and Unohana) whose power levels are well above those appropriate for their positions. Use with caution, for the line between powerful and Mary Sue is a thin one indeed
• Lieutenants (not including those who have already achieved Bankai) go from 40 to 50.
• Fracciones, Numeros, Mod Souls, Togabito, and Fullbringers all have power levels which fluctuate drastically, but rarely reach the 50's.
• Zero Division and the new Quincies are, as of now, unknown quantities, but it is clear that they can both surpass most Captains.
• Transformations like Resurreccion, Hollowfication, and the Visoreds' "masking" almost always require some new statistics to account for their reformed abilities.
• To represent these changes, simply place the new number in parentheses beside the original one, ex. 5 (7). Please note that while such transformations can technically affect any category, they are almost always relegated to the INHERENT ones, save of course Intelligence and Dexterity.
• However, releases such as Bankai and Fullbring are considered special abilities and do not normally merit new stats unless some kind of transformation is involved.
• In terms of Kido, a Shinigami character can reliably use spells without incantation up to ten times the value of their Projection category, plus ten. For example, since Tessai can cast Hado #88 without incantation, his Projection skill must be at least 8.

EDIT: Check the bullet points for MAJOR edits to the system. Now, you may be wondering why I dun' nerfed everybody. Well, the reasons are two: First, after re-watching the anime and looking over the manga, I noticed that the numbers I had worked out were often grossly inappropriate for how the characters were actually performing. Second, this is also a mechanism to keep people from jumping to 10 all the time, like I noticed they were doing with the previous system.
